WHAT IS RATIO AND TORRENT

The real benefits of using torrents are:
1. The original poster of the torrent, needs to use far less bandwidth to upload and uses less uploaded GB to the other nodes and so saves in both bandwidth and time and is able to upload even more software for us to have.

2. Our combined upload speed became the total upload speed of the torrent which will be greater than the original seeder speed alone, and so the leechers (downloaders) benefit by having far greater speeds at zero extra cost.

3. Our website doesn't need to rent server storage to host all those files or use bandwidth which would force us to use paid memberships to balance the cost.

I hope you understand now, that the reason we insist on people to seed (upload) is that,
if we all stop sharing/uploading the torrents we downloaded, then the rest of the members won't be able to download a torrent or it will be slower for everyone else.

imagine in the above example if node E decides to stop sharing, then the rest of the nodes will have to do additional download/upload to cover for the part that he downloaded but didn't share, and so the torrent will become slower for everyone and take longer to finish.

It should be common sense to at least upload what we downloaded so others may get them too, in the same way, that we downloaded because of others seeded.

Leech/Leeching/Leecher: This is when someone is downloading a torrent that is not 100% complete yet. Leechers can still share the data they downloaded with others.

Seed/Seeding/Seeder: This is when someone has a 100% complete downloaded copy of the torrent and actively remains online and is ready to share back with the community when it is requested. Seeding simply means let the torrent active after you finished downloading by not turning the client off and/or removing the torrent from the list.

Swarm/Peers: It's the total of all the seeders and leechers that participate in a specific torrent.

Ratio: This is a number that shows the balance of how much you uploaded to others VS how much you downloaded from others or in general it shows how helpful you are in

Some examples: If you have downloaded a total of 10 GB but only uploaded 5GB back, your ratio will be (5GB / 10 GB) = 0.5 and that means you have shared 50% of what you downloaded. If you downloaded 10 Gb but shared 20 GB then we have 20/10=2 and so it shows that you uploaded 2 times as much as what you downloaded or 200%.

If at any moment your ratio drops below 0.4 which means you only gave back 40% or less of what you downloaded then we will not allow you to download more torrents as clearly, you are not helping back those who helped you when you asked to download. There are no exceptions to this rule and the system checks automatically and blocks access to the torrents.

Hit and Run: This is per torrent and it indicates that someone downloaded a torrent (hit) but as soon as the torrent finishes the user didn't seed back to others, but rather disconnects (runs). To avoid Hit and Runs, each torrent must be seeded for at least 72h (not continuously of course) or a 1:1 ratio (The amount of GB you downloaded, must be equal to the amount of GB uploaded), whichever happens first. You are allowed a maximum of 3 Hit&Runs total. After that point, your torrent downloading rights will be revoked and you won't be able to download from us. In case you dont want/can't seed, you can use your seed bonus point to zap them (make them disappear) and continue downloading.
